Having seen him playing to audiences of over one thousand on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, it
was a surprise and pleasure to find Daniel Sloss was bringing his touring show
to the rather smaller venue of Just the Tonic Leicester on the 2nd of December.
The intimate setting allowed for constant audience interaction and a lot more
spontaneity on Sloss's part as he decided that tonight was the night to tell
the audience some filthy, scatological and hysterical stories about support act
Kai Humphries.
Sloss was something of a child prodigy, starting his stand up
career at the age of sixteen. Although he has now had six years of experience
he still has a youthful enthusiasm and exuberance which complements his upbeat
observational style of stand up. He covered many subjects; informing the
audience that he would happily turn gay if he could, tackling the heavy subject
of obesity and telling us his nickname for his penis. He also revealed the
embarrassing fact that he has watched all of the Twilight films, thankfully he
made up for this major flaw with a witty and informed tirade on the films'
innumerable flaws.
Sloss's style and energy make him seem like a Scottish Russell
Howard. Although what he's doing may not be revolutionary his material always
feels fresh and you're guaranteed to be thoroughly entertained by him.
